Launches the 2nd Forum on Future Development of China in Nansha,the theme being “Beyond the Financial Tsunami – The Effects of the Global Financial Crisis on China”. Professor Robert A. Mundell, Nobel Laureate in Economics and “Father of the Euro”, delivers a keynote speech and discusses the issue with 9 presidents and representatives of Mainland and Hong Kong higher institutions,offering enlightening opinions on China's future development course.
Mr. Ian Fok Chun Wan is presented “The Award for the Most Influential Foreign Experts in China in 30 Years of Reform and Opening Up” by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs of China.
Co-launches an Emergency Assistance Service Training Program with the Promotion Center for Emergency Assistance of China's Ministry of Civil Affairs.
In September, on behalf of Pei Hua, Mr. Fok Chun Wan Ian attended the
"5th National Meeting to Commend and Give Awards to Units and
Individuals Distinguished in Promoting Unity and Progress of Ethnic
Groups" held by the State Council.
Mr. Peter Lee Ka Kit made a donation of HK $2 million.
1st The Inaugural of Training Program for West China Tourism Development have been organised.
A change of Pei Hua's name from "Hong Kong Pei Hua Education Foundation Limited" to "Hong Kong Pei Hua Education Foundation" is approved by the Hong Kong SAR Government.
To celebrate its silver jubilee, Pei Hua launches its 1st Forum on Future Development of China at the Nansha Grand Hotel in Guangzhou. 12 speakers from overseas, the Mainland and Hong Kong, including Singapore's Foreign Minister Mr. George Yeo, Resident Representative of United Nations Development Progamme and Resident Coordinator of United Nations System's Operational Activities for Development in China Mr. Khalid Malik, and Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Mr. Li Jiayang, speak on China's future development in the aspects of economy, science and technology, culture and education respectively. About 270 guests take part in the Forum, including people from various circles of Hong Kong, representatives of Mainland cooperating organizations and Pei Hua student representatives.

Chairman Lee Shau Kee pledged a special donation of RMB 50 million from 2005 to 2009, in support of the Pei Hua-Lee Shau Kee Project Warmth run by the National Association of Vocational Education of China.
A follow-up and experience sharing session with past participants was held in Lijiang, Yunnam, organised on corporation with the China Association for International Exchange of Personnel, in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Economic Management Training Programme for Senior Government Officers.

In Alignment with the national policy of vitalising industries in the Northwest region, the Industrial Management Program for Senior Executives from Mainland China was jointly offered with the Hong Kong United Youth Association on a trial basis.
Pei Hua's 20th Anniversary celebrations were held at Government House in Hong Kong and the Great Hall of the People’s in Beijing respectively. During the visit to Beijing, members were received by Mr Jia Qinglin, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Mr Wang Zhaoguo and Ms Liu Yandong, Former Minister and Minister of the United Front Work Department respectively.
Mr Walter Kwok donated HK $2 million from 2001 to 2002.
Pei Hua provided a funding of RMB2.61 million to the Hong Kong Open University for the offer of the Master of Business Administration Programme and Master of Education Programme in the Western Region of China. This was the largest single funding made by Pei Hua to date.
At the end of August, a follow-up session with ethnic minorities participants was held Xinjiang, co-organised with the Centre for Training Talent of Minority Nationalities. After the session, some members joined the Hong Kong Businessmen Delegation organized by the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in HKSAR and visited Xi’an and Dunhuang, Gansu.
Responding to the needs of developing China's Great West, a seminar was jointly organized on 28 July to explore business opportunities in the region. Participating organizations included the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, Business and Professionals Federation of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association.
The 1st Hotel General Manager Training Course for Minority Nationalities of China was co-orgainsed at the Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou with the Centre of Training Talent of Minority Nationalities.
At the invitation of China Association for International Exchange of Personnel and the authorities of the Tibet Autonomous Region, Pei Hua members visited Tibet from 16-20 August, and met with individuals of the minority nationalities who have participated in Pei Hua’s programmes.
Pei Hua was named "Model Unit of National Unity and Progress" by the State Council.
Pei Hua members took part in a forum jointly organized in Beijing with the Centre for Training Talent of Minority Nationalities to review and evaluate programme results. During the same visit, members were received by Premier Zhu Rongji, Minister Wang Zhaoguo of the United Front Work Department and Director-General Wan Xueyuan of the State Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs.
Mr Ian Fok received the "Friendship Award" bestowed by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs.

The 1st Economic Management Training Programme for Senior Government Officers (Guangdong, Hong Kong) (originally known as the 1st Economic Management Tranining Course for Senior Government Officers) was co-orgainsed with the China Association for International Exchange of Personnel.
The 1st Seminar for Senior Officials of the Minorities' Autonomous Prefectures in China (Guangdong, Hong Kong) was co-organised with the Centre for Training Talent of Minority Nationalities.
Pei Hua members visited Beijing and were received by Mr Jiang Zemin, Chairman of the Communist Party of the People's Republic of China and Mr Yang Shangqun, President of the People's Republic of China.
Pei Hua was registered as Hong Kong Pei Hua Education Limited.

The “Pei Hua Scholarship” was awarded, for the first time, to Hong Kong students studying at major universities in the mainland.
The 1st Development and Construction Seminar (also known as the Liaodong Peninsular Development and Construction Seminar) was held.
The Northwest Hotel Managers Training Course (Xi’an) and Xinjiang hotel Management Training Course (Urumqi) were first organized for minority nationalities in China.
Dr Cheng Yu Tung made a donation of HK $2 million.
Members of Pei Hua visited the Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou and Sichuan Province from 5 to 12 December, to gain deeper knowledge of China.
The Ho's Education Foundation of Hong Kong appointed Pei Hua to assist the Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou in the construction of an Academic Building for the School of Business.
The Business Orientation Programme, co-organised with the American Chamber of Commerce was held for the first time from 2 to 22 July. The programme has been held annually since (except in 1997 and 2003), accounting for a total of 20 programmes up to 2006.
The Hong Kong Commercial Law Seminar was first organized.
The 1st National Interior Design Training Course was organised from 5 November to 8 December (A total of 3 National Interior Design Training Courses have been offered, the last one in 1988).
The Offshore Oil Enterprise Management Seminar was held from 14 August to 2 November.
The 1st nationwide Tourism and Hotel Management Seminar was organized at Jinling Hotel, Nanjing from 20 November to 24 December.
Pei Hua sponsored 5 Hong Kong specialists (Drs Yu Yu Chiu, Yu Yue Hong, Leong Che Hung, Chan Woon Cheung, Tse Tak Fu) to perform a demonstration of kidney biopsy in the mainland.
The 1st Interior Design Programme was offered in Guangzhou from 8 October 1983 to 14 January 1984.
The Tourism Services Training Course, held in Guangzhou from 1 November to 19 December, was the first programme organized by Pei Hua.
Hong Kong Pei Hua Education Foundation was founded on 26 April. Major donors include Dr Lee Shau Kee, Dr Henry Fok, Mr K C Wong. HK $10 million was raised in the first year.
A Hong Kong business delegation visited Beijing and Xi’an and was received by Mr Liao Chengzhi, Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee. Patriotic sentiments of members were kindled and upon return, members initiated the establishment of the Hong Kong Pei Hua Education Foundation.
